As Ashley, etc. noted the other day via Twitter, I haven’t been active on the interwebs lately. I’m touched and flattered that someone would notice. So thanks Ashley. Really thanks. It means a lot.
Things have been a little rough over here. A good friend of mine came to visit last Friday and landed in the hospital. Long time readers and real life friends will remember when I ran the Las Vegas Half Marathon with Team Challenge in honor of Stacey and her battle with Crohn’s disease.
This was her second hospital stay this year and her tenth since 2003. She was understandably upset and frustrated with the turn of events. And, based on observation, I would say this particular hospital tour was just as emotionally challenging as it was physically. But I am not Stacey and her story is not really mine to tell.
The week left me feeling stretched a little too thin. I didn’t want to leave Stacey’s side. After all, her husband, parents and sister were thousands of miles away and couldn’t stop by to hold her hand or watch some HGTV. But Jason was working and I didn’t want Ruby to spend too much time with the germs. So I felt a bit like I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Like I needed one of those thingies Hermione Granger had that allowed her to be in two places at once.
But we made it work. Jason cut back on sleep, and I cut back on running and blogging. Stacey was discharged from the hospital Thursday, and I traded her in for my mom on Friday. She assures me she’s doing okay.
Which is more than I can say for myself. I’ve spent the last couple days recovering from what wasn’t even my own hospital stay. Even now I don’t feel like I have the energy even to write a proper post.
So please forgive me for my absence and send Stacey your loving energy.
I do love that sweet Ashley. And I’ve missed you too. I can assure you that I’m not going anywhere. Get your rest. Thanks for setting a good example.
Posted by outlawmama | October 2, 2012, 3:09 amThanks man! That means a lot. I’m looking forward to catching up on your stuff, particularly the post about how you’re still crazy (after the second kid). Why am I looking forward to that…? I don’t know. I guess crazy loves company.
Posted by Laura | October 2, 2012, 7:56 pmSorry to hear about your friend’s health issues. I am sure she was immensely thankful to have you there by her side! Rest up and good luck getting back to the norm.
Posted by misszippy1 | October 2, 2012, 10:02 amThanks! It will be good to get back to as “normal” as I can.
Posted by Laura | October 2, 2012, 7:57 pmI’m so sorry. For you and Stacey. Of course I checked your blog every day wondering what had happened but I don’t want to be a pest if times are tough. I hope you’re doing ok. Sending my love to you both.
Posted by Kari | October 2, 2012, 11:35 amOh Kari, thank you for pretending like you cared that much that I was gone! Ha! I’m doing okay. Stacey definitely had the worse deal. And thanks for the love!
Posted by Laura | October 2, 2012, 7:58 pmAww, poor Stacey! She is my thoughts. What a lucky gal to have you by her side. Take all the time you need to recover!
Posted by kilax | October 2, 2012, 12:54 pmThanks! I have like 5 million posts in my reader now. Aaahh!! Oh well, that’s life I suppose.
Posted by Laura | October 2, 2012, 7:59 pmI’m sorry. That must have been tough on both of you guys. Thinking of you guys & sending my love to both of you.
Posted by vandeblogger | October 2, 2012, 2:27 pmIt was tough on me and like a gazillion times tougher on Stacey. I’m grateful that the ordeal has passed. Thanks much for your thoughts and love.
Posted by Laura | October 2, 2012, 8:01 pmthis sounds like a tough week. I hope things are better for you and Stacey now. I didn’t mean to threaten you back into blogging.
Posted by greekmelie | October 3, 2012, 8:25 amHa! I know you didn’t. I probably need a little push to get back to blogging regularly. And things are definitely better this week.
